Welcome to the Local Governing Committee Webpage:
The Local Governing Committee (LGC) plays a vital role in supporting the leadership and development of the school. Its members work closely with the headteacher and staff to help shape the school’s vision, monitor academic performance, and ensure that resources are used effectively. They also provide oversight on safeguarding and wellbeing, making sure the school remains a safe, inclusive, and high-quality learning environment for all students.
While the LGC focuses on the specific needs and priorities of the individual school, it operates within the wider framework set by the Trust Board of Directors. The Trust Board is responsible for the overall strategic direction, financial management, and legal accountability of all schools within the trust. It delegates certain responsibilities to each LGC but retains ultimate authority. This structure ensures consistency and high standards across the trust, while allowing local governors to concentrate on the day-to-day experience and outcomes for pupils in their school community.
The LGC represent the Parents, the local Community, Staff and its Church Foundation. Each Governor serves for a term of 4 years. Training is provided for new and current Governors.
The Local Governing Committee (LGC) meets regularly throughout the school year to review progress, discuss key priorities, and support the leadership team. These meetings are closely aligned with the School Improvement Plan, ensuring that governors are focused on the school’s strategic goals and key areas for development. By monitoring progress against the plan, the LGC helps to drive continuous improvement and ensures that actions taken are having a positive impact on pupil outcomes.
