Curriculum Plus

At Bradley, we strive to meet our vision of ‘Happy, Successful Children.’ We have the unique chance to offer the children a wide range of curriculum plus opportunities.

Tai Chi - in the Autumn/ Spring we had the fantastic opportunity to have an expert Tai Chi coach come in to teach us about the martial art. He showed us how to control our breathing and how to use Tai Chi sticks, helping us to work on our full body control.

Trips - We offer a range of fun, educational trips at Bradley. This year our children have been on trips to: Derby Museum of Making and Art Gallery, West Midlands Safari Park, Ashbourne, Renew Church Uttoxeter, Dovedale, Brownlee Triathlon, Broomfield College.

Residential - Each year Turing Class (KS2) gets the amazing chance to go on a residential trip for a few nights. This is a great opportunity for the children to try new things, push themselves and have a great time with their friends. 

School show - Each year we work towards a big school production, previous years we have done: The Greatest Showman, The Lion King, and Frozen. All of the children work hard to learn their lines, perfect the songs and dances. The children have an amazing time and performing to the families is a great experience.

PCSO Bradbury - We have a great connection with the Ashbourne Safer Neighbourhood Team. PCSO Bradbury and his colleagues visit us throughout the year and talk to us about the role of the police in the community, and how the children can be savvy and keep safe. We have also had the great chance to show us the police equipment and car with its lights and sirens.

Valley Cids - Half termly we have Valley Cids in who deliver us brilliant engaging collective worships that get the children to think deeper about stories that Jesus told. We also get RE lessons delivered in a ‘Sunday School’ style usually with a lovely thought provoking craft activity to support the learning.

Enterprise project - This year Turing Class (KS2) undertook a Design and Technology enterprise project where they made a reaction time game using BBC Micro:Bits. Once we had made the game, thought of costs, prizes and made posters we invited parents in to play the game. The children made a profit of £35 and chose to have an ice cream treat with an ice cream van coming one afternoon to treat all of the children in the school!
